Welcome Message from the President

Welcome to Wings Over the Rockies!

On November 8th we celebrated our annual “Spreading Wings” Gala, bringing our mission of “inspiration and education through aviation and space” sharply into focus for a very special evening.

We honored the “First Ladies of Air & Space,” paying tribute to Eileen Collins, first woman Space Shuttle pilot; Patty Wagstaff, first woman National Aerobatic Champion; and Emily Howell Warner, first woman major airline pilot.  In addition to honoring outstanding achievement by our distinguished guests, we raised money to sustain our “spreading wings” educational outreach mission.  Programs like our Wings Aviation Science Program (“WASP”) will serve up to 13,500 elementary students in the year to come, helping young people follow in the footsteps of Eileen, Patty and Emily.

Many of our 640 Gala guests came from far and wide to share in a memorable evening.  But a scan of our visitors log reminds us that Wings Over the Rockies is a destination for people from many states and countries on a regular basis.  Staff and volunteers are working hard to create a memorable visitor experience to all who visit Colorado’s Official Air and Space Museum.

A new parking lot and landscaping have spruced up the exterior of our historic hangar facility.  Three new major exhibits added in recent months have drawn rave reviews from our visitors.  You can learn about Colorado’s own “Jetwing” aircraft… hear personal reflections from Colorado’s own astronauts… learn about intrepid adventurers who have flown around the world... wander among Cold War aircraft that changed our way of life… pick up unique items from the Museum Store.

Please consider spreading your wings at Colorado’s Official Air & Space Museum through the upcoming Holiday Season.  From all of us in the Wings family, best wishes for all the blessings of the Holidays to you and yours.

Warmest regards,
Greg Anderson
President & CEO
