Students and other groups take tours of our historical Museum guided by one of our knowledgeable and entertaining volunteers. Time in our flight simulator lab and the opportunity to assemble balsa airplanes can be added to the tour for additional fun and learning.
Onsite Programs:
Aviation Exploration: A tour guide accompanies the children and explains aircraft controls, forces of flight, and some history at the appropriate age level. The tour includes an opportunity for the children to sit in selected cockpits! (K-Adult, 1 hour)
Flight Adventure: The children take an Aviation Exploration tour and then are trained on flight simulators applying the knowledge they have learned. Tour guides assist children on the simulators showing them how to use the controls before flying. (3rd-Adult, 1.5hrs)
Flight Engineer: The children take an Aviation Exploration tour and then assemble gliders. The flight of these aircraft test the knowledge they have gained from their tour experience. (K-12th, 1.5 hours)
Aviation Adventure: Our all inclusive tour of Aviation Exploration, Flight Adventure, and Flight Engineer. (3rd-12th, 2 hours)
Project Pilot Class: The project pilot class consists of three phases. The first phase is a classroom session where aviation, navigation, and geography fundamentals are introduced followed by the preparation of a flight plan. In the second phase, students are trained how to operate the simulators, learning about the instrument panel as well as basic control of an aircraft. In the final phase the students fly the mission in the simulator lab from the classroom flight plan lesson. (6th-Adult, 3 hours)
