"A Higher Calling" Book Signing ( 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm )
A Higher Call Book Signing Event
Sunday, May 26
1:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Join Wings Over the Rockies in welcoming author Adam Makos as he talks about his New York Times bestselling book A Higher Call. The book takes the legendary true story that most WWII flight buffs know—that a German ace spared an American B-17 in 1943—and reveals the rest of the story.
Why did the German, Bf-109 ace Franz Stigler, spare the American bomber? What incidents from his battles in North Africa made him the man he was that day? The book also shines new light on the American pilot, Charlie Brown, by showing his struggles to return to the cockpit after his encounter with Franz. Ultimately, A Higher Call follows Franz and Charlie as old men. Haunted by their encounter, they began searching for one another to heal, a last mission that could change their lives forever.
1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Members only/VIP reception: An informal gathering where guests will get the chance to meet the author and Eighth Air Force B-17 pilots and crew members. Light refreshments will be included.
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. A formal program and discussion open to all attendees where Makos will share stories and insights from “A Higher Call.”
Makos will sign copies of his book following the program.
Limited edition print, Almost Home, signed by artist Gil Cohen, will be signed by members of the Eighth Air Force at this time. This print will be available for sale at the event.
